On April 5, the Mary Queen Catholic Church Creation Care Ministry in Texas brought the parish community together for a joyful, faith-filled celebration of environmental stewardship with their 2nd Annual Creation Care Fun Run.
Parishioners of all ages walked, ran, and laughed their way through an uplifting event focused on caring for God’s creation — in spite of the forecasts for heavy rain!
Through this fun, family-friendly gathering, Mary Queen’s Creation Care Ministry found a creative way to raise awareness and encourage concrete action toward ecological responsibility.
Thanks to the generous support of local businesses and parish ministries, the event was a true community effort. Sponsors included several local businesses and organizations, including Lighthouse Realty, Sofia’s Italiano, Friendswood Nail & Spa, Gulf Shores Orthodontics, Intaglia Arts, Trees for Houston, Keep Friendswood Beautiful, the Texas Native Plant Society, and the Mary Queen Women’s and Social Concerns Ministries.
As Jennifer Hammerle of the Creation Care Ministry shared, “We do our best to raise awareness about caring for God’s Creation. One way we have found to engage our parishioners is to have a fun run.”
Through events like this, Mary Queen Catholic Church continues to show what it looks like when faith meets action — and when a community comes together to care for our common home with joy, energy, and purpose.
