Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Peace be with you! Inspired by our Holy Father Pope Francis’s encyclical Laudato Si’, which reminds us of our shared responsibility to care for our common home, I am delighted to invite you to participate in Operation Greenshield—a new pilot project I was blessed to conceive and secure support for through the Houston Health Department’s Environmental Health Division.

Press Conference

I encourage you to come and to gather to offer prayer, hand out much-needed snacks and water, pick up litter, and plant trees as a symbolic witness to hope and renewal. Please register to let the Health Department know your organization is coming. They are planning to acknowledge organizations during the Press Conference the Mayor is calendared to attend around 10:00 am.

My Hope

Through this initiative, it is my hope to honor my grandparents and family legacy through Our Mother Mercy Catholic Church of Liberty, TX, Fifth Ward, Houston, TX; and St Francis of Assisi, Kashmere Gardens, Houston, TX seek to live out the Gospel call to serve our neighbors and safeguard the environment God has entrusted to us. As a newer less experienced member, I welcome advise, direction, insight as I grown in the movement. Your presence would be a cherished contribution—whether you join us to pray, to lend a helping hand, or simply to stand in solidarity with the community.

How You Can Help

Join in Prayer: Offer intercessions for the health of our planet and the well-being of myself, my neighbors, the volunteers, and the Catholic Churches in my community.
Volunteer: Hand out snacks and water, plant a tree, or pick up litter alongside other community members.
Community Support: Spread the word to family, friends, and fellow parishioners who may also feel called to help especially to the Catholic Churches in 77020 and 77026 that serve my community of Fifth Ward.
