A collaborative of entrepreneurs, capital stewards, scholars and other changemakers seeking to draw upon our Catholic lineage, particularly the wisdom of Catholic Social Teaching and Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si, to heal our economy.
We launched following Pope Francis' invitation to young people to "give a soul to the economy of tomorrow" through the Economy of Francesco Initiative. Our goal is to help bring Catholic Social Teaching to life by building a collaborative that supports new investment and enterprise development practices through educational workshops, relationship-building and accompaniment, thought leadership and movement building activities. We organize peer-to peer workshops and “action circles” for financial investors who seek to embody faith-consistent investment practices. These workshops focus on moving participants away from a paradigm of extractive finance to one that is non-extractive and restorative. We have also launched Ownership Matters (ownershipmatters.net), a biweekly newsletter for the founders and funders of the emerging solidarity economy. We believe a focus on advancing democratic ownership models (co-ops, employee ownership) is deeply aligned with CST’s principles, especially subsidiarity, human dignity and integral human development.
