SUMMARY:Resilience–Give Nature a Chance
DESCRIPTION:Register today to join the Franciscan Sisters and Sarah Peper, a large river fisheries biologist for the Missouri Department of Conservation.\nThis May Franciscans For Earth Eco-Series Event will take place in the Assisi Room at Tau Center 335 S. Kirkwood Rd in Kirkwood, MO. Gather with St Louis community members as the Sisters welcome Sarah and her live presentation of “Resilience—Give Nature a Chance.”\nRegister at www.fsolph.org/events/ ( http://www.fsolph.org/events/ )\nThe Missouri and Mississippi Rivers were altered dramatically in the 1900s. Lock and dam construction and channelization projects have made river navigation possible but have also affected the fish and other aquatic organisms that live in the river. Using Lake Sturgeon as a representative, we will explore how changes in the river systems have impacted aquatic fauna and how many of our species are amazingly resilient if given a chance to recover. Discussion will follow.\n
